Residents steam down memory lane on the North York Moors Railway

RESIDENTS and staff of Astune Rise in Eston, a part of Popular Care, enjoyed a splendid day out aboard a historic steam train on the scenic North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

The journey from Grosmont to Pickering provided a mix of beautiful scenery and a throwback to the golden age of steam travel, enriching the lives of everyone involved.

The trip formed part of the care home’s diverse activities programme designed to provide engaging and stimulating experiences for its residents.

“We are committed to offering a wide range of activities that can bring joy and a sense of adventure to our residents,” said home manager Caroline Bowstead. 

“Trips like this steam train journey not only offer a change of scenery but also stir fond memories and create new ones.”

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, renowned for its historic significance and stunning vistas, offered the perfect backdrop for an enchanting escape from the daily routine.

The outing was met with enthusiastic participation and has been one of the highlights of this year’s social calendar. 

“It’s important that our residents have opportunities to experience such exciting events. It truly was a fantastic day for everyone involved,” added Caroline.
