Care home giraffes lovingly restored

A CARE home has had its two precious giraffe sculptures lovingly restored thanks to the Woking and District Men’s Shed.

Gombo and Adile have occupied the grounds at West Hall for almost a decade after they were donated by a former resident.

Residents at the Anchor care home have grown increasingly fond of the giraffes, with some visitors mistaking them for the real thing.

With both giraffes in desperate need of some tender loving care, in stepped the Woking & District Men’s Shed, which itself calls West Hall home.

General manager Katherine Mahoney said: “Over the years our giraffes started looking tired and sad.

“However, our friends at Woking and District Men’s Shed have been able to bring the giraffes back to pristine condition.

“We are pleased to see how much joy they bring to our residents and everyone who visits West Hall. Words cannot express how glad we are to see our giraffes standing under the tree once again.”
