Home’s residents discover joy in TikTok inspired game

RESIDENTS and staff at HC-One’s Greenways Court in Consett recently found themselves in fits of laughter after trying out a fun and creative game inspired by a viral TikTok video.

The idea was first brought to life when a member of staff at the care home spotted the game on the social media platform of a human fruit machine and shared it with the team.

Excited by the concept, they set to work creating their own version using cardboard boxes, transforming it into an engaging group activity for the residents to interact with.

What followed was an afternoon filled with joy, laughter, and participation from everyone at the residential and residential dementia care home.

Residents not only enjoyed taking turns playing the game but also became part of the machine themselves, adding an extra layer of fun to the activity. The enthusiasm was infectious, drawing in more staff members who couldn’t resist joining in the merriment.

Care manager Michelle Bull said: “This has been a wonderful activity for our residents and colleagues to get involved with.

“Days later and the residents are still talking about how much fun they had.”

Residents expressed their delight at the experience, and everyone was in stitches of laughter. With such a positive response, everyone is already looking forward to making this game a regular activity at Greenways Court, proving once again that laughter truly is the best medicine.
