Care home transformed by EDF Energy volunteers

RESIDENTS at The White House were treated to a transformation of their courtyard thanks to the generous efforts of volunteers from EDF Energy.

Led by a family member of one of the care home’s residents, EDF’s Key and Strategic Team chose The White House as the focus of one of their ‘Force for Good’ charity days – an initiative that aligns with their commitment to giving back, and particularly supporting causes related to Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

the team spent the day painting and refreshing all the courtyard woodwork, injecting life and colour back into the space. They added vibrant, hand-painted artwork to the walls and fences, giving the garden a warm and playful feel.

Their creativity continued with the planting of colourful flowers and sensory plants, which now fill the courtyard with calming scents, soft textures and a burst of natural beauty.

A wishing well has been placed at the centre of the space and is soon to be transformed into a fairy garden.

Tracie Bowen, Registered Manager at the Centrum Care Homes Group operated facility, said: “The generosity and spirit shown by the EDF Energy team have completely lifted the heart of our home. They brought sunshine in more ways than one.

“The space is now full of colour, creativity and life – it has become a peaceful haven where residents can relax, feel inspired and enjoy the outdoors in a whole new way. We are truly grateful for their kindness and for the joy they have brought to our community.”

The transformed courtyard is now a favourite spot for residents to enjoy fresh air, quiet reflection and shared moments.
