Home hosts community BBQ

THE White House, part of Centrum Care Homes Group, welcomed residents, families and the local community for a summer BBQ that raised £200 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

After a brief morning panic when rain clouds threatened to dampen the day, the skies cleared to glorious sunshine in time for the afternoon festivities.

Residents, their loved ones and neighbours came together to enjoy a celebration of food, music and laughter.

Guests were treated to a feast of BBQ favourites, from sizzling hot dogs and burgers to homemade cupcakes, with Pimm’s flowing to toast the sunshine. A children’s play area with games, including hook-a-duck, brought plenty of laughter – and more than a few children ended up splashing in the paddling pool.

Live music from talented local singer Charley Everitt created a wonderful atmosphere, and a VIP photo booth captured countless moments of fun.

The afternoon also featured a raffle packed with prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters.

Manager Tracie Bowen said: “This was everything a summer BBQ should be – sunshine, laughter and time spent together. Seeing our residents surrounded by family, enjoying the music and joining in the fun, was incredibly special.

“We are so grateful to all the local businesses who donated prizes, and to our team for making it a day to remember.”
