Home offers community support following bomb discovery

KNAPPE Cross Care Centre in Exmouth is reaching out to local residents following the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb at Exmouth Marina, offering practical support to those affected by the ongoing evacuation.

The care home, located outside the current cordon, is inviting members of the community to contact them if they need a safe, quiet place to stay or rest – particularly older people or those with additional care needs.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by this incident,” said Vincent Vhinyu, Registered Manager at Knappe Cross.

“As a long-standing part of the Exmouth community, we want to do whatever we can to offer help and reassurance during what we know is an unsettling time.”

The care centre is also welcoming local residents for hot drinks, conversation and use of its facilities to recharge phones or rest, with team members on hand to offer support.

The team has praised the emergency services and bomb disposal units for their swift and professional work to ensure public safety.
