Care home campaign raises £1,800 for disability charity

RESIDENTS and staff at a Dorset care home have begun its 20th anniversary year by handing over nearly £1,800 to a community charity after a series of fundraising events.

Colten Care’s Amberwood House in Ferndown chose the Stable Family Home Trust as its charity of the year early in 2025.

Since then, team members, residents, families and supporters have staged events in support such as a dog show, Big Lunch, car wash and Christmas market. Tombolas and raffles have also played a key role.

Home manager Diane Nicholls said: “It’s always up to our residents to decide which charities we help.

“Our fantastic total for the Stable Family Home Trust was achieved through a collective effort from all departments within Amberwood House, alongside the generous support of our community, friends and family.

“We thank everyone who contributed, volunteered and supported our fundraising efforts. Your generosity has helped make a meaningful difference.”

To round off the campaign, the home hosted the presentation of a giant cheque for £1,770.85 to Trust representatives.

Working from offices in Ringwood and Southbourne, Stable Family Home supports people with learning disabilities in Hampshire and Dorset.

Established in Ringwood in 1980, it currently assists more than 100 people through a range of services and opportunities.
