RESIDENTS from HC-One’s The Denby Care Home in Huddersfield enjoyed an afternoon of wine tasting after the trip was personally recommended by one of the residents.
Wellbeing coordinator Penny Lee Duncan organised the visit, taking the resident who suggested the idea along with a group of friends to a local vineyard for a special behind-the-scenes experience.
Penny said: “It really exceeded my expectations. It was such a wonderful day out, and the residents thoroughly enjoyed learning about the vineyard, tasting the wines and spending quality time together. We’ll definitely be going again.”
The visit offered residents the opportunity to learn about the vineyard’s history, including the challenges and successes of the business, which is owned by a local woman and her partner.
Residents were fascinated by the guided tour and insights into how the vineyard operates, before enjoying the highlight of the day – sampling the vineyard’s wines. The sparkling rosé proved refreshing, the white wine was described as wonderful, and the red wine delighted the group.
The experience was rounded off perfectly with a meal in the vineyard’s restaurant, which residents described as the “icing on the cake” following a fantastic day spent together.
