Sector invited to celebrate Lunar New Year with chef

AN award-winning TV chef and celebrated author is set to bring the flavours of Lunar New Year to the social care sector this February.

Suzie Lee, presenter of BBC’s Suzie Lee Home Cook Hero, and author of Simply Chinese and Simply Chinese Feasts, will host an accessible, virtual cook along on What To Do (www.WhatToDo.co.uk)

What To Do is a nationally recognised online platform created by social care charity Community Integrated Care. Designed for people with support needs, it offers accessible experiences every week and regularly welcomes special guests and celebrity hosts who share their skills and passions with the social care community.

Briony Davies, partnerships development manager at Community Integrated Care, said, “What To Do is all about giving people the opportunity to try new things, build confidence and connect with others.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Suzie Lee – an inspiring cook whose warmth, expertise and passion for sharing her heritage makes this a truly special way for people in social care to celebrate Lunar New Year and get cooking.

“It’s an honour to bring such rich, cultural experiences to our community, all the while empowering people to learn new skills that enable healthier lifestyles and wellbeing.”

Suzie will join the online platform on Wednesday, February 18 at 12pm to guide participants through making a ‘Fridge Raid Stir Fry’ – a fresh, healthy and budget‑friendly dish that showcases a classic Chinese cooking technique.

Suzie’s session also forms part of the charity’s Care To Cook campaign, which has previously seen the likes of celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager share her top tips and recipes with people who draw on social care across the UK.

Care To Cook is open to anyone with support needs and aims to inspire greater confidence, independence and enjoyment in the kitchen through fun, accessible and low‑cost cooking activities.
