Age-old art of letter writing brings joy to residents

RESIDENTS at Burscough Manor near Ormskirk, part of Sandstone Care, were overjoyed to receive the first batch of letters from residents at their sister care home, Oak Springs in Liverpool.

This heart-warming initiative is designed to forge meaningful friendships between the two care communities through the traditional art of letter writing.

The exchange of letters allows residents to share stories, memories, and experiences, fostering a sense of connection and companionship.

The initiative was met with enthusiasm, with residents eagerly opening their letters and responding with heartfelt messages of their own.

Lizzie Brighouse, home manager at Burscough Manor, said: “It has been wonderful to see the excitement and joy on our residents’ faces as they read their letters.

“This is a fantastic way for them to build friendships, share their life experiences, and feel connected beyond the walls of our home. We can’t wait to see these friendships blossom through future letters.”
