Army recruits visit residents ahead of Remembrance Day

CARE home residents in Fareham enjoyed a special visit by some army training recruits to share stories ahead of Remembrance Day.

Hamble Heights welcomed 20 army recruits from Fox Platoon Winchester to meet the residents and listen to their stories about serving in the military, the changes in the uniform over the years, and the military training. The recruits also took time to play a few games with some of the residents including darts, dominoes and Connect Four.

As thanks for their visit, the Fox Platoon Winchester recruits were presented with boxes of cupcakes with poppy decorations by Vanessa Duggan, the care home’s wellbeing manager who organised the activity.

It was part of a programme of activities organised by the wellbeing team at Hamble Heights to commemorate Remembrance Day, which also included poppy art and an in-house church service.
