Bingo victory for Mollie

RESIDENTS from a St Budeaux care home had a great time at a special dementia-friendly fun day at The Anchorage pub in Plymstock.

Mollie Coyne, who was among the five residents of Butterfly Lodge who went on the outing, was especially delighted when she won the bingo.

Kelly Tennant, one of the activities co-ordinators who accompanied the group, said: “The pub provided a fantastic lunch, live music, dancing and bingo and everyone had a wonderful time.

“Outings like this are always popular with our residents. It’s really lovely for them to go into a familiar pub setting and be made to feel so welcome.

“The tasty lunch and the singing, dancing and games put a smile on all their faces.

“People don’t always realise how much it can mean to someone living with dementia to be able to go into a lively pub and enjoy their favourite beer or a refreshing gin and tonic – it takes them back and they love it.”
