THE Manor House Care Home in North Walsham is celebrating a remarkable milestone after four of its residents reached the age of 100 within a short space of time.
Joan Bedford, Kathleen Bultitude, Joyce Newstead and Noel Buck (pictured) have each received a congratulatory card from His Majesty The King to mark their birthdays, with celebrations held at the home alongside fellow residents, families and staff.
Home manager Paula Pawsey said: “To have four residents all celebrating their 100th birthdays, and each receiving a card from His Majesty The King, is incredibly special.
“It’s a proud moment for everyone at The Manor House. Their stories, humour and life experience bring so much warmth to our home and are a daily inspiration to residents and staff alike.”
Joan Bedford, who was born in London, enjoys spending time watching the birds and wildlife in The Manor House’s gardens, often sitting by the windows or outdoors taking in the changing seasons.
Kathleen Bultitude was born in Norwich and is devoted to her family, regularly welcoming visits from her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who remain a central part of her life.
Joyce Newstead, born in Salhouse, Wroxham, attended Wroxham School and is well known at the home for her sociable nature. She enjoys taking part in activities and is visited frequently by friends. Joyce moved into The Manor House at the age of 98 and quickly became an active and much-loved member of the community.
Noel Buck, who was born in Thorpe, joined the Royal Navy at 17 and spent five years travelling the world. During the Second World War he served as a wireless operator and vividly recalls the excitement of life in the Far East and surrounding countries.
