RESIDENTS of a Dorset care home were transported back to the fun of childhood through the simple activity of making paper aeroplanes.
Colten Care’s Canford Chase in Poole was abuzz with chatter and laughter as residents made and then flew their own ‘aircraft’.
Companionship team leader Vicky Day said: “We had been looking back at things our residents enjoyed whilst growing up and making and flying paper planes came out as one of the top things to do.
“We talked about different styles of planes and looked this up online, where we discovered there are so many different designs.
“This led to us deciding to make our own, which our residents wholeheartedly embraced.”
Paper plane ‘expert’ Roy Pardoe made planes with some of his family and opted for a highly effective extra-long ‘nose’.
Vicky said: “Roy’s planes flew the furthest of all the planes made. He also enjoyed reminiscing with his family about the Concorde aeroplane.”
