Care Show Birmingham announces Minister of State for Care as keynote speaker

STEPHEN Kinnock, the newly appointed Minister of State for Care, will deliver a video address in the Care Keynote Theatre at Care Show Birmingham 2024.

With this edition marking 20 years of the event’s dedication to connecting care providers across the country, it remains the UK’s largest and most comprehensive gathering designed to foster innovation, share best practice, and encourage growth within the sector.

Having served as an MP since 2015, Stephen Kinnock was appointed as Minister of State for Care at the Department of Health and Social Care on 8 July 2024, and MP for Aberafan Maesteg in South Wales. His role covers a number of different responsibilities including adult social care, hospital and community discharge, health and social care integration, dementia, primary care, community health, end of life and palliative care, and disabilities and SEND. Within adult social care, his responsibilities more specifically cover workforce, funding, system assurance and data, markets, technology and innovation, and continuing healthcare.

“It’s a pleasure and a privilege to have been invited to address the Care Show. I’m looking forward to setting out the government’s vision for adult social care to care professionals and the wider sector.

Together we can tackle the challenges facing social care, and deliver the reforms that are desperately needed to improve care across the country.”

The Minister’s address at Care Show Birmingham at the NEC, Birmingham, will highlight the government’s ambitions and commitments for reforming the adult social care sector.

Michael Corbett, Group Portfolio Director has stated:

“We are delighted to be the first major event at which Minister Stephen Kinnock will be addressing the wider social care audience. Care Show is the number one destination for those working in care and it’s a great opportunity for the sector to hear the plans from the new government.”

The Keynote address will take place on day 1 of the show: Wednesday 9 October 2024, at 15:45PM.
