Carnival comes to Enfield care home

WITH the Notting Hill Carnival taking over London on the August Bank Holiday weekend, residents at Bullsmoor Lodge care home in Enfield were determined not to be left behind.

Everyone at the care home enjoyed the full carnival treatment, with the whole place full of colour, music and smiling faces.

Resident Joan told staff that back home in Trinidad she would attend the carnival every year as a young girl, and later her husband played in the military band that was also part of this wonderful event.

Joan said: “I have had a fantastic afternoon with memories of my childhood flooding back, and to have my daughter here with me just makes it extra special. Thank you to the staff here for making it happen.”

Care home manager Lisa Coombs said: “It is very important to ensure our residents get the chance to experience a taste of culture and celebrate diversity within our community.

“We were so pleased that Joan was inspired by our event to remember her time as a young woman in Trinidad.”
