Circus skills workshop at care home

RESIDENTS at Sanctuary Care’s Chyvarhas Residential and Nursing Home in Callington, Cornwall were treated to a truly magical day when Rainbow Circus CIC brought their colourful and energetic performance.

The event featured a lively mix of juggling, plate spinning, card tricks and more.

The highlight for many was Rosie Rainbow, the aerial artist, whose stunning and graceful stunts left residents and staff mesmerised.

But the fun didn’t stop there. After the main show, the circus team invited residents at the not-for-profit care home to have a go.

They handed out weighted silk scarves for juggling and even taught a few willing participants how to spin plates.

One particularly memorable moment was when a young performer on stilts walked through the home, greeted by gasps and smiles from surprised residents.

Activities coordinator Veronique Budden said the residents loved “out of the ordinary experiences” like this. She explained that this was the circus’ first time performing in a care home.

The team worked closely with Veronique to adapt their show, ensuring it was accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
