Home celebrates ‘Good’ rating by going green

STAFF at a Huddersfield care home donned green outfits to celebrate their performance in their latest Care Quality Commission report.

Longwood Grange Care Home was awarded ‘Good’ ratings across all five categories the inspectors judged, which include Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

The CQC ‘Good’ score is colour-coded in green, hence why home manager Adam Colbeck and his team dressed to match.

He said: “I want to thank every single member of our dedicated team for helping us achieve this fantastic result. I’m so proud of them all.

“We are all committed to providing the best care to the residents and helping them enjoy life to the full, doing the things they love and trying new experiences too.

“It’s great to have such positive feedback from the CQC inspectors, and to discover how much the residents and their loved ones appreciate what we do.

“It’s given us a real boost for 2026, and we’re excited to see what this year brings.”

In its report the CQC inspectors praised the Longwood Grange team for its person-centred care.

They wrote: “The provider made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs. Staff knew people well and followed care plans to meet their needs.

“A person told us they had only recently moved into the home and felt that, when staff were assisting them, they were treated as though they were the only person there.”

The report also noted the importance the team put on ensuring residents maintained their independence.
