WHITE Lodge in Swindon is bringing music, movement and smiles with its free monthly community disco, and everyone is invited to join in.
Held once a month, the disco is designed to give older members of the community a fun, friendly place to socialise, enjoy live music and relive favourite songs from years gone by. The events are open to all older people living locally, whether they attend alone, with friends or with family members.
Each month a group of elderly visitors joins residents of the Barchester care home on the dance floor to sing, dance and share memories. With music, a lively atmosphere and a warm welcome, the disco has quickly become a highlight in the social calendar.
Senior general manager Ramona Gherendi said: “The discos are about much more than just dancing. Music has a powerful way of lifting moods, sparking memories and bringing people together.
“Many visitors arrive feeling shy or unsure, but leave with smiles, new friendships and a renewed sense of connection.”
Residents look forward to each event, often talking about the songs they hope to hear and the friends they expect to see. For those living alone, the disco offers a safe, welcoming space to feel part of a community again.
White Lodge is now inviting more local people to take part and experience the joy of the monthly disco. Whether you love dancing, enjoy listening to music, or simply want a friendly afternoon out, everyone is welcome.
The next Community Disco takes place on Tuesday, February 25 at 2.30pm.
