GREGORY House care home in Welby Gardens launched its Companion Campaign and ‘Danced for Dignity’ to create a memorable Dignity Action Day for its residents.
As part of the Companion Campaign launched by the Grantham care home run by The Orders of St John Care Trust, each member of the team will become a companion to a resident, thereby creating a special bond, whilst also helping to uphold person-centred care. Employees will also liaise closely with the family members of the resident they are a companion to.
The care home also hosted a series of events on the day to incorporate the theme for this year, Dancing for Dignity. Throughout the day, residents and employees took part in a series of activities designed to bring a smile to everyone’s faces, whilst demonstrating the important role that everyone must play in treating those in care with respect and dignity.
The day’s events started with a session by Adults Move Lincolnshire, followed by a service by Reverend Peter Stevenson who gave a sermon about the importance of dignity. Gregory House employees held a flash mob dance over lunch time, and in the afternoon Scottish country dance group U3A performed for residents.
