HC-ONE’S Berry Hill Park Care Home in Mansfield has launched a pen pal initiative aimed at brightening the lives of residents through the joy of letter writing.
The scheme invites people from near and far to become pen pals with residents at the home, sharing stories, memories and everyday moments through handwritten letters filled with warmth and kindness. Residents meet every two weeks to read their letters together and write thoughtful replies, with support from the home’s caring team.
Briony Finney, wellbeing coordinator at Berry Hill Park,, said: “Our residents absolutely love receiving post, and this initiative gives them something really special to look forward to.
“Writing and reading letters brings back happy memories, creates new friendships and helps everyone feel more connected. We’d be delighted to welcome new pen pals to help spread a little joy.”
The pen pal club offers residents the opportunity to make new friends, spark conversations and enjoy meaningful connections beyond the care home, while reminding them that a simple note can make someone’s day.
Staff at Berry Hill Park are on hand to assist residents with reading letters and writing replies, ensuring everyone who wishes to take part can do so.
