A SUTTON care home has selected a local hospice as its fundraising focus for the coming 12 months – starting its efforts in style with a ‘hoedown’.
The team at Sutton Rose kicked off the partnership with St Giles Hospice with a folk dancing ‘hoedown’ fundraiser, raising £666.
The hoedown at Boldmere Bistro was described by the care home as “the most amazing day,” with residents from Sutton Rose and neighbouring apartments joining in the celebration.
The local community also came out in force, showing their support for the cause.
Marie Accison, care home manager, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to support St Giles Hospice this year and we will be sure to have some fun raising much needed funds for them along the way.”
Entertainment at the event was provided by Michelle’s Line Dancing Troupe, and live music from the ‘No Direction’ band kept the atmosphere buzzing throughout the afternoon. Visitors were treated to an array of market stalls, and a raffle added to the fundraising excitement.
For Sutton Rose, this is just the beginning of a series of fundraising events planned for the year to support the work St Giles Hospice does for people living with terminal illnesses in the community.
