RESIDENTS at a New Forest care home welcomed nearly 150 guests for an outdoor ‘festival of light’, raising more than £300 for a young carers’ charity.
The dazzling spectacle took place at dusk in the garden of Colten Care’s Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst.
It featured colourful lanterns, stars, hanging displays, light trails along paths and around trees and shrubs, and a giant snail figure with a shell made up of coloured jam jars.
Companionship team colleagues Jane Bunker and Jo Anderson collected donations from visitors as they served hot chocolate and biscuits.
Jane said: “It was really lovely to welcome so many people. We counted 147 through the gate. Our festival went on for a full two hours and luckily the weather was dry.”
Among the visitors were children and families from nearby Brockenhurst Primary School and the village pre-school, plus friends and contacts from Brockenhurst College and Ringwood social care day service provider Spiral Blue.
