Home strengthens ties with nearby facility following floods

POTTER House, part of Oyster Care Homes, has extended its support to Somerset Care’s Burnworthy House following the recent floods that impacted their home and residents.

General manager Callum Pearce met with Alison Tiltman, Registered Manager at Burnworthy House, to offer support and discuss ways to build a strong relationship between the two facilities.

Callum brought chocolates for the residents and personally invited them to Potter House’s grand opening on May 8.

He said: “We believe that care goes beyond the walls of our own home – it’s about being part of a wider community and supporting each other.

“It was a privilege to meet with Alison and discuss how we can work together to create enriching experiences for our residents.

“The floods were a challenging time for Burnworthy House, and we want them to know they have our full support. We’re looking forward to a long and meaningful partnership between our homes.”

Beyond providing immediate support, the meeting also laid the foundation for a collaboration between the two care homes.

Callum and Alison explored opportunities to bring residents together through shared trips and outings. Plans are also in motion for joint events, including summer fetes and seasonal celebrations.

A key initiative discussed was the launch of a pen pal project, where residents from both homes will exchange letters, stories and experiences.
