MANOR Park in Old Malton has officially welcomed its very first resident.
Greta Lyon, 85, has become the first person to move into the care home, beginning a new chapter in a place that holds personal and family connections.
Her daughter Adele explained that the family has a long-standing link to Old Malton, including connections with the family who live nearby and friends who grew up on the stud farm that previously stood on the site where Manor Park is now located.
“When I heard about Manor Park, I arranged to visit and loved the home right away,” Adele said. “It felt like the right place for mum from the moment we walked in.”
Adding to the personal significance of the move, Greta and her late husband were married in the church that is visible from Manor Park, and several members of the family live very close by, making it easy for them to visit regularly.
Manor Park offers residential and residential dementia care and has been designed to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment. Nestled on the outskirts of Malton, the home combines modern design, advanced technology and high standards of care to support residents to live well and feel at home.
Registered commissioning manager Laura Clegg added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Greta as our very first resident at Manor Park.
“It is especially meaningful that she has such strong ties to Old Malton and the surrounding area. Our team is passionate about creating a warm, supportive and vibrant community, and we look forward to supporting Greta and future residents to enjoy everything the home has to offer.”
