Home wins award at Silver Sunday celebrations

STAFF and residents at Barchester Healthcare’s Magnolia Court Care Home in Golders Green got together with more than 600 people from the local community recently to celebrate Silver Sunday, the national day for older people.

Originally launched as a local campaign by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation, Silver Sunday is now a national day to tackle loneliness and isolation where people of all generations can come together by hosting fun and free events.

The home was invited to join the celebrations this year organised by Age UK Barnet.

Back in September Magnolia Court were invited to enter an art competition run by Napa Art in Care Homes.

Residents submitted their art work and were delighted to receive an invite to attend the Silver Sunday event at Middlesex University and absolutely over the moon to find out they had won a highly commended prize for their sunflower art work.

Age UK Barnet sponsored the prizes and the award was presented on the day.

Lenie Reyes Terrado, general manager at Magnolia Court, said: “We were delighted to be invited and had a wonderful time. It’s been lovely for our residents to meet new people on Silver Sunday, and they are so proud to win the award.”
