Mayor opens new extension at Winchester care home

MAYOR of Winchester, Councillor Sudhakar Achwal, has officially opened the new extension at Hartford Care’s ‘Outstanding’ rated Tegfield House care home in the city.

The £5million extension and renovation work includes a dining room with lifestyle kitchen, an additional lounge overlooking the garden, a hair salon and a new courtyard, along with 15 en suite bedrooms.

The local community attended the unveiling event which also included live music, an opportunity to view the home and chat with residents and staff.

Home manager Sarah Robertson said: “Our new extension has provided our residents and visitors with an improved social environment, and our lifestyle kitchen in particular helps our wonderful residents maintain their independence.

“It was great having members of our local community come and take a look around our home and see the improvements we’ve made.”

Tegfield House offers residential care, dementia care, respite breaks, day care and end-of-life care within its characterful home, nestled within its own landscaped gardens.

The bedrooms in the newly-built extension offer neutral, modern interiors and act as a perfect canvas to be personalised as residents wish, with their own furniture from home, family photographs or paintings. All have en suite wet rooms.
