Mayor unveils new extension at Maidenhead care home

THE Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Mandy Brar, has officially unveiled the new lounge extension at Hartford Care’s Boulters Lock, an ‘Outstanding’ rated care home situated in a popular residential area of Maidenhead.

Residents’ family and friends and the local community joined in with celebrations, which included entertainment from a local singer, a BBQ and a mobile petting farm.

Home manager Ashleigh Newman said: “The new extension has provided our residents and visitors with an improved social environment, there’s lots of natural light shining through making the area bright and welcoming.

“It’s wonderful to have the new space for a wide range of activities to take place so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Set in a late Victorian building, the home retains many of its original features and offers dementia care, residential care, respite breaks, day care and end-of-life care across its 32 en suite bedrooms.

Hartford Care invested £100,000 in the new extension which connects the existing lounge and dining room to create a light and airy open plan space, with direct access to the newly renovated garden area.

In addition, there’s a new servery in the dining room, a hair salon and a new communal shower room.
