THE Calico Group is hosting a public event at The Prairie Sports Village in Burnley to encourage people to learn more about plans for a new extra care development in the town.
The £19m development will be the first of its kind in Burnley and will transform derelict land into 93 extra care apartments.
This will provide specialist assisted living accommodation in a neighbourhood setting, aimed at improving older people’s quality of life and reducing the risk of social isolation. The scheme will be designed primarily for people aged over 55 who require extra support while maintaining as much independence and dignity as possible.
The event, taking place on July 5 between 2pm and 6pm, will showcase details of the wider scheme, with staff from Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction and Calico Enterprise on hand to talk about job and apprenticeship opportunities.
There will also be the opportunity for guests to have their say towards naming the development and register their interest for the apartments, for themselves or their loved ones. Light refreshments will be provided on the day.
Construction work by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction is scheduled to begin in the near future, with completion expected in 2024.
