Museum of Somerset outing delights residents

AN outing to the Museum of Somerset by residents of a Taunton dementia care home included a tour of Somerset Military Museum which delighted them just ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Residents and staff from The Rectory enjoyed chatting about the role of Somerset’s regiments in war and peace and browsing the regimental archives of the Somerset Light Infantry, and the North and West Somerset Yeomanry.

Abbie Foster, manager of The Rectory, said: “It’s a gentle walk from our home to Taunton Castle where the museum is housed, and our residents loved their wheelchair journey through the autumn sunshine.

“The military displays on the first floor were easily accessed via the lift and we were really impressed with all the facilities.

“There were historic costumes available for people to dress up in, which was great fun, and lots of displays to look at.”
