EVERY care home across the Sandstone Care Group will be celebrating the Coronation this weekend.
All of the operator’s eight homes will be holding a series of parties for residents and their families as part of the King’s Coronation Bank Holiday weekend.
Some great food and drinks will be made by each of the homes’ resident chefs and a series of activities are being planned.
The eight care homes include: Burscough Manor in Burscough, Fleetwood Hall in Fleetwood, Longridge Hall and Ribble Court near Preston, St Helens Hall in Merseyside, Oak Springs in Liverpool, The Farmstead in Telford, Shropshire and The Oaks in Powys, Wales.
A Coronation garden party is being held at The Farmstead Care Home on Saturday, May 6th with live music from singer Kerry Young, tea, a picnic, dancing and a raffle.
Manager Fiona Brewin said: “Everyone is really looking forward to a very special weekend of celebrations. It’s very exciting.”
At Fleetwood Hall Care Home, residents will be able to tuck into a specially made high tea in the garden and listen to a local entertainer.
At Ribble Court Care Home, residents are planning to watch the Coronation on the television while tucking into freshly baked scones and cups of tea.
Children from a local school will also be popping in to sing and dance and there will be a Coronation party.
Manager Emma McManus said: “It’s going to be very special watching the Coronation together as a home. We’re going to top it off with a group of local school children who are coming in to sing songs and give a little dance performance in aid of the Coronation.”
At St Helens Hall Care Home, all the residents have received personal invitations to a Coronation Party on Saturday with party food and entertainment.
The home’s manager Amanda Clark said: “We thought it would be a nice touch to send all our residents a personalised Coronation invitation. Everyone is really excited for the weekend.”
Residents at The Oaks Care Home in Newtown, Powys, have been busy all week making Coronation cake creations and putting on fun events.
Manager Jen Roberts said: “We’ve been doing lots of fun Coronation activities all week! Everyone has really got into the spirit.”
