RESIDENTS of Priesty Fields Nursing Home in Congleton, part of the Sandstone Care Group, were able to enjoy another trip out thanks to community support.
Their recent trip to Astbury Garden Centre was made possible through a partnership between Priesty Fields, the nearby New Life Church and Congleton Partnership.
For many care homes, the cost of hiring a minibus for outings can be a significant barrier, limiting the opportunities for residents to experience new places and activities. However, thanks to the generous support of Congleton Partnership, expensive rates for hiring minibuses are avoided.
Matthew Bell, manager of Priesty Fields, said: “I’m thankful for the support we’ve received from community organisations. As we’ve seen with our trip to Astbury Garden Centre, we can take our residents out far more often than we could otherwise.
“We’ve even managed to take them on trips as far as Llandudno, which was a wonderful experience.”
The partnership with the New Life Church also involves members of the church volunteering their time to visit Priesty Fields. They provide free entertainment, including singing sessions and arts and crafts activities, which bring joy and engagement to the residents.
Matthew added: “This collaboration is about more than just transport; it’s about creating opportunities for our residents to enjoy new experiences and connect with the wider community.
“The support from New Life Church and the Congleton Partnership enriches the lives of our residents, and we are very grateful for this.”
