Provider’s homes celebrate World Baking Day

HC-One care homes across Britain have been indulging in a range of baking activities to celebrate World Baking Day on Sunday.

At Clarendon Hall Care Home in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, there is a cooking club that consists of a group of residents living at the home, who have a passion for baking.

The cooking club members participated in a creative day of making cupcakes in celebration of World Baking Day. Clarendon Hall residents enjoyed taking part in the baking tasks, which included whisking the mixture and chatting to each other about their cooking knowledge and experiences.

The residents were assisted by a group of volunteers, who gave up their free time to visit Clarendon Hall and support residents in the baking class.

At Acacia Court Care Home in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, residents took part in fun baking sessions. Residents sat around the table and took turns adding ingredients to the mixture to create delicious buns.

Once the buns had finished baking, residents thoroughly enjoyed tasting their creations as part of World Baking Day. By participating in the baking experience, this brought back memories for residents.

At Daneside Court Care Home in Northwich, Cheshire, several residents enjoyed creating their own gingerbread people together to celebrate World Baking Day.

Residents were pleased to work together to create tasty gingerbread people. Once the gingerbread was made, the residents decorated their creations with icing and chocolate.

And at Meadow Bank Care Home in Preston, Lancashire, the home offered a selection of cakes and gingerbread people for residents and colleagues to enjoy on World Baking Day which was kindly supplied by Allison Gallacher, the partner of Kevin Gallacher who is a resident on Beech House at Meadow Bank Care Home.

Residents were able to be creative on a “fun-filled” afternoon, where several toppings and icing was available for those participating to choose from.
