REGISTRATIONS are now open for the 2026 Great British Care Cycle Relay, a five-day, multi-stage cycling event celebrating and championing social care across the UK.
This year’s relay will start from a Renaissance Care Home in Edinburgh on June 11. Riders will then travel through five regions—Scotland, Greater Manchester, Derby, Wales and London – covering approximately 100km each day and visiting care services along the route to highlight the dedication, compassion and diversity of the social care workforce.
It will conclude in London on June 15, finishing at a special event marking the official launch of Care Home Open Week.
Vishal Shah, vice chair of the Care Home Open Week organising committee, said: “We are delighted that the Great British Care Cycle Relay will once again shine a spotlight on the incredible people and organisations that make up our social care sector.
“Starting the relay at a Renaissance Care Home in Edinburgh is a fantastic way to celebrate care at the heart of our communities, and ending in London to launch Care Home Open Week gives the journey real purpose.”
There is no entry fee to take part, but riders are asked to raise a minimum of £100 in donations to support the ongoing work of Championing Social Care.
Cyclists of all abilities are encouraged to take part, whether joining for a single day or multiple stages of the relay.
Registration is now open and riders can sign up using the online form at https://www.championingsocialcare.org.uk/join-the-great-british-care-cycle-relay/
