RESIDENTS at HC-One’s Woodthorpe Lodge Care Home in Loughborough have been keeping active this winter after starting their day with a gentle armchair exercise session designed to support mobility, confidence and wellbeing.
The session was led by Move It Mobility, who guided residents through a series of seated exercises tailored to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The activity provided a positive and energising start to the day, helping residents to move comfortably while spending quality time together.
Home manager Natasha Birkin said: “We believe small moments of movement and togetherness can have a big impact on wellbeing. The armchair exercise session was a wonderful way for residents to stay gently active, support their mobility and enjoy each other’s company during the winter months.”
Gentle exercise plays an important role in supporting physical health, especially during the colder winter months when people can be less inclined to stay active. The armchair session focused on light movement, flexibility and enjoyment, showing that staying active doesn’t have to be strenuous to make a meaningful difference.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the session, which boosted morale as well as mobility, and staff were delighted to see the confidence and smiles it brought to everyone involved.
