RESIDENTS from The Oaks Nursing Home in Newtown, part of the Sandstone Care Group, enjoyed a day out connecting with nature and animals through a visit to Dyfi Donkeys.
This double dose of fresh air and furry companions was a fantastic way to enjoy the great outdoors.
Home manager Jen Roberts said: “Spending time outdoors and engaging with animals goes down well with our residents. They come alive on days like these. “You see it in their smiles, their conversations, and the way they talk about it for days afterwards.”
The day trip began with a visit to Machynlleth Park for a fish and chips lunch. The group then ventured to Dyfi Donkeys, where Muffin and Joey welcomed them with nudges and nuzzles. Their gentle nature and curious personalities made an instant connection with residents, bringing plenty of memorable moments.
These powerful interactions are more than just enjoyable outings. They bring proven benefits for mental and emotional wellbeing, especially for older adults, including reducing anxiety, and boosting mood.
