THE chief executive officer of We Care and Summit Care Groups, Paul Newman, has been awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to health and social care.
The honour was presented by His Majesty King Charles III at a special investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle – the King’s first public engagement since a recent period of rest during cancer treatment.
The award recognises Paul’s decade-long leadership of Greensleeves Care, one of the UK’s most-respected not-for-profit care providers, as well as his voluntary contributions to the wider health and social care sector, including ongoing work developing UK and international standards for inclusive communities that support people living with dementia.
Paul said: “It was an extraordinary honour to receive this award from His Majesty the King. I accept it on behalf of all the dedicated colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years – especially those providing compassionate, life-enhancing care to older people everyday.
“Social care is often undervalued, but it changes lives. I hope this recognition helps shine a light on the people and the values that make our sector so vital.”
The ceremony was also attended by other notable recipients including Olympian Katarina Johnson-Thompson and broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh.
Now CEO of the We Care and Summit Care Groups, Paul leads one of the UK’s largest care providers, operating 35 care homes across the north of England.
