WITH National Ice Cream Day coinciding with the heatwave, staff of Rogers House in Wigmore kept their residents cool with a trip around with the ice cream trolley.
Despite the soaring temperatures, a chilled afternoon was on the cards at the care home as staff ensured residents could keep calm and carry on through the level four heat health warning by delivering some refreshing ice creams.
All the traditional favourite flavours were on the menu – from mint choc chip to raspberry ripple – and there were plenty of tasty toppings to choose from too, including the obligatory flake and sprinkles, of course.
Home manager Jackie Miles said: “Heatwave or not, we all love an ice cream, don’t we? With temperatures exceptionally high we enjoyed plenty of cool drinks and the odd ice cream to keep us all cool.”
