A LEEDS care home has been putting a smile on residents’ faces by inviting therapy ponies to visit.
Each month, one four-legged visitor from KL Pony Therapy does the rounds at Anchor’s Berkeley Court care home.
The most recent visit saw the handsome Mr P say hello to all the residents at Anchor’s Berkeley Court care home. He was accompanied on his visit by the founder of KL Pony Therapy, Katy Smith.
It wasn’t just the residents who got up close and personal with Mr P. Staff in attendance also said hello, with Mr P clearly reveling in the attention he was receiving.
Manager Kala Jessop said: “As we know, animals help to relieve anxiety and have a calming effect. The novelty of a miniature pony being in the home and going into the lounges and resident bedrooms means we all look forward to Katy from KL Pony Therapy visiting.
“She takes the time to speak to every resident and really connects with them which boosts their emotional wellbeing.”
The initiative was introduced last year and has proved a huge success among residents at Anchor’s Berkeley Court care home.
