Unbridled joy for Elgin care home residents

RESIDENTS at Spynie care home in Elgin were treated to a visit from two Shetland ponies.

The residents had a wonderful time meeting Flicker and Wilson. Therapy Ponies Scotland work across the region bringing the joy of their two friendly, therapy trained Shetland ponies to care homes and hospitals. Their visit was a treat for the residents as part of their regular activities programme.

Therapy ponies can help motor functions, reduce stress and help memories resurface for residents with memory loss. Both the residents and ponies had an amazing time.

The ponies even visited residents unable to leave their rooms bringing smiles to their faces and boosting their moods.

Home manager Maggie Scott said: “We all absolutely loved our visit from Flicker and Wilson, they brought so much happiness to our residents, and we look forward to their next visit.”
