Visiting cat is “purr-fect” companion for residents

A PET cat that has been visiting Minchenden Lodge in Southgate, North London for six years has become the ideal companion for residents.

At first Jinxy the Bengal cat would sit outside the lounge window of the AgeCare operated residential care home, but it wasn’t long before residents insisted their furry visitor was invited in.

Six years on and the pet now pops in for daily strokes and treats. He has a bed in the care home’s laundry room, a choice of many armchairs, but his favourite place to sleep in is in a cardboard box. And, at the end of each day, he will always head back to his family home down the road.

Home manager Rahima Mulindwa said: “All our residents love having Jinxy around. They look out for him every day and provide him with lots of attention.

“Interacting with different animals is also a great therapy source so Jinxy is an ideal guest. Minchenden Lodge is his second home and brings so much joy to all of us here.”
