Group shows support for World Parkinson’s Day

RESIDENTS and staff across Spellman Care came together on World Parkinson’s Day to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Ghyll Royd Care Home in Guiseley kicked things off with a coffee morning open to the whole community. Residents, families, and the local community enjoyed refreshments and cakes, fostering connections and raising awareness for Parkinson’s.

Springbank in Silsden hosted a ‘Pie Crawl.’ A Springbank resident with a love of pies, Ken, who himself has Parkinson’s, headed out into the local community to taste some of the best pies on offer, collecting samples to bring back to the care home for a ‘Pie Stall’ for his fellow residents to sample.

Steeton Court Nursing Home treated residents and visitors to a special fundraising buffet. Residents enjoyed a selection of food, creating a memorable and supportive atmosphere.

Craven Nursing Home in Skipton held a staff ‘non-uniform’ day, encouraging employees to wear blue, the signature colour of Parkinson’s UK, in return for a donation.

“Parkinsons UK is a charity close to our hearts at Spellman Care, as we have several residents living with the disease across the group,” said group operations manager Philippa Young.

“It was fantastic to see so many members of the Spellman Care community getting involved to raise money.”

The events raise £179.32 for the charity.
