Home helps keep romantic tradition alive by organising meal

THE Chase in Huntingdon organised a surprise romantic meal for Mo and Doug Crane – a retired couple who have been living at the home for two years.

It was arranged after staff overheard the couple’s granddaughter discussing the special Chinese takeaway treat the two used to share regularly for ‘date night’.

In the home’s private dining room a table was set with a bottle of champagne, roses for Doug to give to Mo, and their favourite food was ordered in from a local restaurant – sweet and sour chicken.

General manager Jessa Avila said: “Wwe want to support our residents in maintaining as many of their old habits and traditions as possible.

“Even simple things like a romantic Chinese takeaway with your partner can be crucial for making someone feel at home. I’m so glad we were able to give Mr and Mrs Crane such a lovely evening to remember.

“Over the next few months we have a bunch of other person-centred initiatives planned for residents; and we always actively encourage friends and family to take part in these activities as much as possible.”
