Volunteers celebrated at Colchester care home

RESIDENTS of The Oaks in Colchester can put their knowledge to the test through fun-filled quizzes and crosswords thanks to the dedication of Lindsay Ridley and Liz McLaughlin.

The volunteers dedicate their time to visit with residents, often sitting with them in their rooms before leading quiz sessions or crossword challenges.

These sessions not only stimulate the minds of residents but also provide them with opportunities to socialise.

Activities coordinator Bethany Foster said: “Lindsay and Liz’s dedication to The Oaks is incredible. Their ongoing visits are a blessing, and we are so fortunate to have such devoted volunteers.

“We owe so much to all volunteers for the joy and engagement they bring to our residents.”

Lindsay and Liz have deep personal connections to the care home, making their weekly visits even more meaningful.

Lindsay was a member of staff for 20 years and continues to spend quality time with residents.

Liz’s ties to The Oaks are equally heartfelt; her mother was once a resident and, after her passing seven years ago, Liz has continued to visit regularly, forging friendships with the residents.
